BIOGRAPHY: Gabriele Kushi, the founder and director of Kushi’s Kitchen is an internationally renowned lecturer, cooking teacher, private chef, certified health counselor, and the author/photographer of the book Embracing Menopause Naturally. (Square One Publishers) Kushi’s Kitchen is a company dedicated to excellence in teaching integrative nutrition, macrobiotics, natural foods, and sustainable lifestyle awareness to support a peaceful world. Gabriele Kushi is a recognized expert on wellness with natural foods and macrobiotics with 30+ years of experience in her field. She has taught people from all over the world and all walks of life how to become healthier and more self-reliant by choosing health supportive foods and sustain conscious lifestyles. Kushi accents a healing with natural foods approach to seasonal eating and natural living. Her recipes are rich in phyto-estrogen, complex carbohydrates, complete proteins, healthy oils, and plenty of minerals and vitamins. Gabriele is often quoted in the media and has been published among others in the Natural Health Magazine, Taste for Life, Essential Wellness, and Das Grosse Leben Magazine in Germany. She has published and translated a macrobiotic dessert book from German to English, produced a natural foods cooking video, and has been featured on radio talk shows regarding menopause and macrobiotics. Gabriele received her Holistic Health consulting certification from the world-renowned Institute for Integrative Nutrition in conjunction with Teachers College at Columbia University in New York. She has a Level 4 certification as a macrobiotic counselor and cooking teacher for all health concerns from the Kushi Institute, USA, and is a certified member of the Macrobiotic Educators Association. Gabriele holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Summa Cum Laude degree in Photography and Native American Studies. She serves on the advisory board of Earth Save International and works with Native American healers. Gabriele’s studies of scientific research literature, integrative nutrition, traditional macrobiotics, Eastern and complementary medicine, Qigong, yoga, art, yin-yang classification, natural foods cooking, healing with natural foods, the five energy transformation theory, Oriental diagnosis, hands-on healing, and indigenous medicine have provided her with a well-rounded unique wisdom approach in the work with her clients and students. Gabriele incorporates a local, as well as global, sustainable, spiritual, and scientific awareness. She has traveled through Europe, Canada, Japan, and northern Africa, and throughout the United States to support her vision of a peaceful world.
